Have an idea for your own film but need some help writing it and formatting it like a proper screenplay? Join filmmaker, screenwriter, and media coach Mark J. Parker and bring your vision to life via text. From the logline and summary to the first scene of the script, writers will strengthen not only their idea and their formatting, but their ability to write dialogue, descriptions, and conflict. All participants should have a film idea that they are comfortable describing and should be prepared for some brainstorming and writing both in class and at home between sessions. No actual filming will take place in this workshop. Both beginners and experienced writers are welcome. Bringing personal laptops or tablets with keyboards to class is recommended.

acting and improv on camera

Join acting coach, casting director, and filmmaker Mark J. Parker for a fun and informative class about acting for the camera. The techniques taught in this workshop will be different from stage acting, as actors will try to ground their acting in natural, truthful performances like you see in films and television series. Students will work on improv, acting exercises, and age-appropriate scenes from film and TV, plus they will work on hitting their mark within the camera frame and understanding camera angles. Scenes will need to be memorized for Week 2 and actors will be recorded on camera so they can watch and keep their videos. Both beginners and experienced actors are welcome.
