ACTING FOR THRILLERS, HORRORS, & SCI-FI
It’s spooky season, so join acting coach, casting director, and horror filmmaker Mark J. Parker for a fun and informative class about acting for scary stories. The techniques taught in this workshop will be different from stage acting, as actors will try to ground their acting in natural, truthful performances while hitting their mark for the camera, like you see in films and television series. Since Halloween and horror entertainment have become more popular than ever, why not get some practice being a ghost, madman, hero, or unsuspecting victim? The group will work on improv exercises that stretch their imaginations and their acting ranges, plus will work on two age-appropriate scenes from film and TV in the thriller, horror, or sci-fi genres. Memorizing the scenes for week 2 is encouraged, and actors will be recorded on camera so they can watch their work. Both beginners and experienced actors are welcome.
